Youth Theatre for ages 13-18 in Haslemere Surrey
Surrey Theatre Academy runs a dedicated Youth Theatre group for older teens aged 13–18 in Haslemere, Surrey, staging an ambitious large-scale musical every year to full professional production standard.
STA Youth Theatre for local teens
This vibrant Youth Theatre for 13-18 year olds takes theatre training to a higher level for local teens with a passion for performing.
Our Youth Theatre students have their own dedicated annual production working on more challenging material in an ambitious and large scale musical. All of our productions are staged with a full lighting rig and microphones and we provide fantastic costumes for every show giving our students a great insight into professional theatre. We hire professionals to design the lighting and sound and hire professional sets for each show too ensuring that our students get a truly authentic theatrical experience. Each student is taught the valuable life skills of teamwork and resilience that being part of a production entails.
Our sessions offer great opportunities for our students to build on existing theatre training and work excellently alongside GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies programmes. We bring in regular professionals from the world of West End Theatre and film to inspire our older students working on a wide range of disciplines including stage combat, theatrical make-up and much more. Past visiting specialists include: Nikki Trow (X-Factor & BGT Choreographer), Barnaby Thompson: Lion King (West End) Mary Poppins (West End), Michael Jibson: Les Miserables (film) Beauty & The Beast (film) Hamilton (West End) Winner of an Olivier Award for Best Actor and Andrew Simeon (We Will Rock You, Legally Blonde, Starlight Express).
Our Youth Theatre is a fantastic place for young people to express themselves and socialise with like-minded people who also love to perform.
I love STA because you are treated equally and you can be yourself. You get to make friends that are more like you and you mix with people you wouldn't usually mix with. Oh, and it's mega, mega fun!

Being able to attend STA is so important to our daughter. She absolutely loves it and to see her growing in self confidence socially it just heart warming. It is so much more than just a theatre group, it has got her out of her bedroom and interacting... having fun! Thank you doesn't really cut it! But it's all I've got for now.
